TORONTO, November 12 – Bob Cooper (photo left), a 28-year old sales manager from London, UK, won the World Rock Paper Championship, hosted by the World Rock Paper Scissors (RPS) Society, last night in Toronto. Cooper beat approximately 500 competitors to take the World Champion title, $7,000 CDN and the gold medal.
Bryan Bennett of Glen Ridge, New Jersey took second place to win the silver medal and $1,500 CDN. This is the third time Bennett (aka The Saint) has competed in the World Rock Paper Scissors Championship. Tom Smith of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania came in third to win the bronze medal and $500 CDN.
“I went through extensive training, read ‘The Official Rock Paper Scissors Strategy Guide’, and studied the 27 possible RPS gambits before competing,” said Cooper. “I prefer not to discuss my strategy because I plan to defend my title at next year’s World Championships.”
