[From the movie Salvation Blvd.]

Billboards with pictures of the senior pastor.
Worship leaders who pay more attention to their Sunday sets than their daily spouse. (Raises hand)
Mothers who look at their style of parenting as superior than others.
Church staff who look with pity at “smaller churches”

These are the norm in our society.
And they are laced with Pride.
Sometimes accidental.
Pride is such a hard thing to stray away from as Christians.
Because we are human.
But our humanity is no excuse.
The Lord speaks to us through His prophet Jeremiah…

Hear and pay attention,
do not be arrogant,
for the Lord has spoken.
Give glory to the Lord your God
before he brings the darkness,
before your feet stumble
on the darkening hills.
You hope for light,
but he will turn it to utter darkness
and change it to deep gloom.
If you do not listen,
I will weep in secret
because of your pride;
my eyes will weep bitterly,
overflowing with tears,
because the Lord’s flock will be taken captive.
Jeremiah 13:15-17

Um.
This causes this disaster of an arrogant man to take note.
DO NOT BE ARROGANT THE LORD HAS SPOKEN.
HE WILL BRING DARKNESS
HE WILL WEEP IN HIS SADNESS FOR US BECAUSE WE WILL BE CAPTIVE.

I’m just telling you what the Bible says.
So today…
Take your eyes off your amazing voice, rapidly growing church, social media stats, or perfectly behaved children
And give glory to the Lord your God.
He LITERALLY will bring darkness AND weep in sadness.
Trust me.
I know.

All For Him Today.
How have you seen Pride and Arrogance creep into the Christian community?
