Dear Pastors planning on preaching an entire sermon on where your church stands on gay marriage…

You shouldn’t have to.

Why?

Because if people can’t tell where your church stands on issues like this without having to preach an entire sermon about it…

Then you have bigger issues at hand.

This is not saying you shouldn’t…

Simply saying you shouldn’t HAVE TO.

If you are going to place a flag in the ground…

If you are going to make a banner and attach it to the little planes flying around the sky like they do at Spring Break beaches across the south…

If you are going to stand atop the mountain called your pulpit and declare something…

May it be a declaration that brings people to the foot of the cross as opposed to sprint away from the cross.

And when it’s time to have conversations that draw a line in the sand…

May it be across a dinner table and not across a stage.

Conversations that matter happen much better over a meal than a microphone.

And if you disagree with me… please disagree with me without losing your mind.

Cause if everyone agreed with me, then I’d be doing it wrong.

Meals over Microphones…
